Deal Breakers You Should Never Compromise On When Buying Your Dream Home

As a homebuyer, it’s hard to admit to yourself that there’s no such thing as the “perfect house”. Sure, finding your dream home is possible, especially in the Coachella Valley, but what are you willing to compromise on to make that dream a reality? More importantly, which things will you not compromise? Deciding from the beginning what is most important before you start your search will open up opportunities and help you find a house that is truly perfect for you. If you’re in the market for a new house in our great desert community, these 3 deal breakers are ones you should never compromise.

Budget

As you begin your house hunt, crunch the numbers and stick to that figure. The Coachella Valley real estate market is enormous. There are a lot of great properties to choose. Throughout the process, you might get frustrated finding something that fits within your budget, but still has everything you desire. If you know your budget and stick to it, you’ll be more willing to compromise on the little things that are keeping you from saying yes to a home that you can truly afford. Be honest with yourself from the beginning and set a budget that is within your means and is realistic for your lifestyle. Then stick with it.

Location

They say home is where the heart is, and if you have your heart set on a certain location for your purchase, don’t compromise. If you’re set on La Quinta, don’t expand your search to Palm Desert. There are a lot of factors that affect the community you choose. Finding a home within a good school district, proximity to relatives and friends, or the length of your daily commute all factor into where you will want to be living. Think about what is important to you in a location, and find a place that fits you or your family’s needs. Then, start looking for a home in the area that you know you’ll be happy living in.

Layout

As you’re looking at home options, think about what you can and can’t afford to fix. There are some parts of a potential home that will involve possible improvements after purchasing the property. The layout of the home might not be one of them. It can be incredibly costly to change the layout of your house and in some cases might not be possible. Think about how much space you need, the number of rooms you require, and how the size of your backyard will affect your happiness with the purchase. Reconstructing the layout of your house is not a quick fix. Analyze what you need and find a house that is set up for what you are looking for. Also, if you’re eyeing a golf course home in the Coachella Valley consider whether that sounds fun, or if you want to be replacing windows regularly. You’re sure to find that your idea of what is the “perfect home” for you might change as you go through the home buying process, but there are some things that will always make a difference. If you stick to your deal breakers, finding the house for you will be that much easier.
